SQL Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst on the Empiric Health team, you will be expected to work on new and existing projects, function independently within a fast-paced environment, work on several different projects/tasks concurrently and serve as a data advisor to both internal and external stakeholders. Projects will involve the retrieval of data from different source systems and writing queries against our own database as well as those of customers. This role requires complex data visualizations. The analyst will have the ability to leverage comprehension of mathematical and statistical concepts, computer science, and domain expertise to meet analytic requirements. Data Analysts will use their technical and analytical expertise to explore and examine healthcare data from multiple sources in support of the Empiric Health mission of improving outcomes and decreasing costs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Independently contributing to projects and data requests from beginning to end
  • Collaboratively working with clinical teams and business stakeholders gathering requirements, developing metrics, retrieving data, and ensuring validity of results
  • Creating innovative and appropriate data solutions and data analysis for the measurement of clinical processes and outcomes
  • Working with a variety of tools to access data, write queries, developing programming logic, running reports, manipulate, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Presenting analytical findings in a variety of formats (reports, PowerPoint, graphs, figures, tables) formulating recommendations, and effectively presenting results to nonanalytic audiences.
  • Designing, developing, and delivering analytic projects including ad hoc insights and other reports
  • Recommending and monitoring healthcare quality metrics including documenting, tracking, and trending
  • Researching best practices, tools, frameworks, etc. for data analytics and healthcare informatics. Approving selection in collaboration with other key staff.
  • Recommending standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of tools and systems.

Perioperative Nurse Consultant

You will spend most of your time in client-facing situations, engaging with physicians, administrators and other clinicians to discuss data (produced mostly in our proprietary analytics tool). You should be comfortable with reviewing, analyzing and interpreting data. But you should also know how to communicate the insights from that data in a crisp and compelling narrative. You need to be clinically fluent, confident but compassionate, and comfortable communicating with (and influencing) a wide variety of stakeholders.

As a critical part of the Empiric Health consulting team, you will work closely with a variety of team members. You will need to collaborate with the Engagement Director(s), other Clinical Empiricists and other consulting team resources. While some of this collaboration may occur on the client site, much of your internal communication will occur remotely.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Using our tools and the client’s data to identify procedural variation and analyze potential root causes for that variation
  • Preparing for and facilitating conversations with physicians, clinical staff and other stakeholders to drive insights from the data and potential courses of action

As the leader of 1-2 Empiric Health consulting engagement teams, you will be responsible for overall engagement execution and client relationship management.
